The Peninsula branch has operated across the Mornington Peninsula area since 1971 and is responsible for the largest geographical area of all the branches. In 1989 it began construction of homes for the aged care units in the local area and provides homes for ex-service men and women and their families. Notable contributors over the years include Alan Gray, Alex Bennett, John Davidson, Col Adamson, Les Parkin, Jim Quinlivan and Don Warford. The Rosebud branch staged golf days, bowls carnivals and Christmas donation drives to support the work of Carry On. The branch went into recession? in 2009 with the remaining members all retired from active involvement.

The Last Post Explained: A Moving Tradition for Veterans on ANZAC Day

The Last Post is the third in a trilogy of bugle calls made to a unit that mark the key points of the day’s activities. The First Post lets the unit know the duty officer is on the move, checking various things on their rounds such as what positions are manned, who needs to be sent off duty and so on. When these rounds are completed, another bugle call is made and finally, the Last Post lets the whole unit know the end of the day’s rounds are complete, and the activities of the day are finished.

World Health Day is celebrated on 7th April every year, with annual themes that put some of the key issues in the spotlight – from heart health to infectious diseases, safe hospitals to supporting health care workers, and healthy cities to universal health coverage.

From paying household bills, to arranging housing, booking and paying for household repairs; coordinating donations of clothing, furniture, appliances and electrical equipment to covering rehabilitation, medical and travel expenses; or covering funeral expenses.

Fundraising is not only vital for the strength and longevity of Carry On (Victoria)’s work, it also provides a great opportunity for volunteers and supporters to be practically involved in things that help support our Ex-Servicemen and Women and their families. Plus, many of the fundraising efforts are fun social events to be involved in!
