In just a few short months the world as we know it has changed, birthday parties cancelled, weddings postponed and the list goes on.

ANZAC day commemoration events are no exception to this.

So this year, we must keep the ANZAC spirit alive and find unique ways to commemorate our past and present heroes.

Here are 5 ideas to help you and your family to commemorate to ensure the service and sacrifice to our heroes are never forgotten.

  • Watch the dawn service on TV and place an Australian flag in your window to show that you are commemorating ANZAC Day.

  • Stand at the end of your driveway, porch or balcony (adhering to social distancing guidelines) and observe one minute of silence.

  • Bake some ANZAC biscuits with the family. If you know an older Veteran that’s staying indoors at the moment, why not drop some cookies over to their front door.

  • Plant Rosemary – this is a perfect activity for all the green fingers out there! Rosemary is synonymous with remembrance and has particular significance to World War 1

  • Recite the Ode with family and friends via video call

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
